MAKUN OMI, IRRESISTIBLE TOURIST TOWN IN OGUN -CULTURE COMM. Makun Omi, a town located at Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State has been described as an attractive town, blessed with numerous tourist attraction sites which form part of the rich cultural values and festivals capable of placing the State on World Tourist map.
Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in the state, Dr. Oluwatoyin Taiwo made this assertion at the second year coronation of the Osobia of Makun-Omi, HRH Oba Kazeem Adesina Salami held at his palace.
Taiwo commended the Royal Father for creating an international platform and market for projecting the tourism potentials inherent in Makun-Omi and its environs to the global world, thereby placing the State in the world tourist map.
The Commissioner however charged the indigenes to support the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration in the State in the actualisation of its five-Cardinal Programmes in order to enjoy more dividend of democracy.
“Cultural Festivals are our ways of life, they are the things that we are proud of and are identify with, I want to encourage everyone of us that we should cooperate with the Kabiyesi in actualising his tourism dreams in Makun Omi “Taiwo said.
In his remarks, Oba Salami appreciated Governor Abiodun for this unrelenting support at projecting all tourism potentials inherent in Makun to the outside world, especially the trade by barter market that still operate in the community, pledging his total support for this administration in making Ogun the best among comity of states.
The Royal Father called on all indigenes of the community in diaspora to come and invest and also cultivate the habit of visiting for holidays with their families during different celebrations, saying this would enable them partake in the prosperity of the peaceful model town.
The occasion also featured confinement of chieftaincy titles on some indigenes, cultural display and was graced by royal fathers and some members of the executive council in the state and well wishers.
